The Health Products Regulatory Authority in Ireland has issued a warning to parents to avoid certain teething tablets or gels made in the US as they could be harmful for children.
The health authority say some homeopathic tablets or gels made in the US and available online should not be bought as they contain ingredients that can cause serious and potentially dangerous side effects.
The warning comes after an investigation in the US found the products can cause health problems including seizures, breathing issues, excessive sleepiness and agitation.
However the warning does not apply to Irish made teething products including – Teetha Teething Granules and Teetha Teething Gel – which are manufactured by Nelsons.
