Wartime President Volodymyr Zelensky has addressed his nation, confirming that major offensive operations will get underway soon.
During a rousing speech watched by millions of his people, he announced that military leaders are drawing up plans and that the army is gearing up for a decisive countermove.
During the previous counter-offensive, which was carried out without Western armor, Ukrainian warriors were able to push the Russian army back to their starting lines in some sectors. Later, Kherson, the only major city to be held by Russia, was liberated.
Now, with the aid of armored assets such as the Leopard 2, Challenger 2, and M1 Abrams tanks, the Ukrainian army plans to drive a wedge across southern sectors, with the strategic objective of cutting Crimea off from the rest of the country.
Simultaneously, and using long-range weaponry, Ukraine is likely to hit the Kerch Bridge to prevent resupplying of Russian troops in the peninsula. Once isolated, mechanized brigades, supported by HIMARS platforms, will likely swing their axis of attack southwards and strike into the heart of Crimea, where remaining Russian troops will have little option but to surrender, as they’ve nowhere to run.
Key to all this is air superiority, hence why Mr. Zelensky is asking for F-16 jets to support the offensive. Once the skies are clear of Russian threats, the ground offensive can achieve its objectives far quicker and with far fewer casualties.
