
The planning application for The National Children’s Hospital was lodged with An Bord Pleanála yesterday.
The National Paediatric Hospital Development Board has said the the €650 million hospital “was arguably one of the most important public infrastructure jobs to be brought forward in the last 50 years”.
A feasibility study is set to be carried out to determine whether or not the heat produced by St James’s Gate can be reused for The National Children’s Hospital.
Water or steam would be pumped from the brewery to the hospital resulting in cut costs and also an environmentally friendly construction.
A decision is expected early next year.
