Waste of taxpayer money? Govt Ministers to fly around the world for St Patrick’s Day




The locations of the Taoiseach’s and other government ministers’ St. Patrick’s Day visits have been made public, reports RTE.

As part of the St. Patrick’s Day programme, 38 delegates will travel to 86 cities across 48 countries.

Leo Varadkar will visit Boston in addition to Washington, DC, and the White House.

Vancouver, Ottawa, and Toronto are the three Canadian cities that Mícheál Martin will be visiting, reports RTE.

Eamon Ryan, the minister of the environment and transport, will visit Brazil; Michael McGrath, the minister of finance, will go to China; and Paschal Donohoe, the minister of public expenditure, will visit France and Bulgaria.

Other cabinet ministers’ destinations include:

Minister for Tourism Culture, Arts, Sport and the Media Catherine Martin: US – Nashville, Austin
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly: Australia
Minister for Enterprise Simon Coveney: India, Bangladesh
Minister for Education Norma Foley: UK
Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman: Japan
Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris: UK – London
Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue: Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan
Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys: US Chicago, Madison, Springfield
Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien: South Africa, Zambia
Government Chief Whip Hildergarde Naughten: Singapore
