Hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again, Independent TD John Halligan has today threatened to remove his support for the current minority Government if his demands are not met.
Halligan is notorious for such threats, which he has never and will never carry out on.
Mr. Halligan is asking for a second cardiac treatment unit to be added to Waterford Hospital, as he believes the hospital is badly under-resourced in that category. He lent his support to the Government in the belief that such facility would be implemented soon. At the time, political representatives agreed to conduct a review on the matter, but it appears that the outcome of such review is not to Halligan’s satisfaction.
He is now saying he may resign from Government as a result. Many people see his threats are empty, won’t help the Waterford Hospital case, and is essentially wasting taxpayer money.
