Met Eireann has issued a snow and ice warning for the entire country, and it will remain in effect until midday tomorrow.
Temperatures will fall to minus 3 or minus 4 degrees tonight, with widespread frost and ice.
The north-west will once again be the worst affected area, with some wintry showers on high ground.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will be a bright but chilly day with scattered wintry showers in northern and western areas, and daytime temperatures of about 3 to 7C.
