Weather warning in effect after coldest night of the year so far, as thermometers plunged to -8C in some areas

A weather warning is in effect after the coldest night of the year so far, as thermometers plunged to -8C in some areas on Thursday night.

The Status Yellow warning for low temperatures and ice will remain in place until noon on Saturday.

Current indications show relatively milder temperatures for Sunday and Monday, but cold conditions are expected to return by Tuesday.
