A weather warning remains in effect until midnight tonight due to heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures.

There were some heavy snow showers yesterday, worst in the north west. Up to 8cm of snow is expected to fall in counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, with largest concentrations on high ground.

A less severe Yellow warning is also in effect for counties Galway, Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, and Roscommon, with up to 4cm of snow expected.

Temperatures are once again set to drop below freezing tonight, with lows of -3C likely.

The weather will remain cold but mostly dry tomorrow, Friday, and into the weekend, though snow and sleet showers are likely.

Milder and unsettled weather is forecast for next week.
