A weather warning is in effect for four counties as miserable conditions hit.
The warning, which covers counties Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Wicklow, came into effect at 5pm and will expire at 4am tonight.
According to the national forecaster, many areas around these counties will experience very heavy downpours, which may lead to localized flooding.
