After some rain and then some sun yesterday, Met Eireann have forecasted seriously heavy rain for the next 48 hours, particularly in Southern counties.
They have issued a status yellow alert to Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford.
“What’s happening is we had been dominated by a Scandinavian high for the last while, but that is going to be replaced by a more typical Atlantic flow, which brings with it more wind and rain,” Met Éireann’s Siobhan Ryan said.
“Sunday isn’t looking like a great day for a lot of the country, it will be very up and down, and in general it will be wet for most of the country, except for the midland counties.
“However, there is some good news, as next week looks to be a big improvement with dry weather returning.”
The AA and gardai have also voiced their concern for motorists to be extra vigilant in these conditions.
