Weather warnings will come into effect as miserable conditions arrive later in the day.
A Status Yellow rain warning for the whole of Connacht plus Co. Cavan will be in effect from 2pm today until 9am on Saturday.
A second Status Yellow warning will kick in at 6pm this evening for counties Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, and Monaghan.
Many areas around these counties will experience heavy rain and strong winds, potentially leading to localized flooding.
