Ice layered over large swathes of the northern Irish latitudes overnight and this morning, with a yellow status warning in place up to 10am.

And there’s worse to come.

Met Eireann have forecast that winds will likely pick up again tomorrow, with gusts of over 100kmph. Even stronger winds will hit the west coast on Wednesday.

Wednesday to Friday will be very windy and cold, with passing wintry showers. There will be some accumulations of snow on hills in Connacht and Ulster, also on higher ground in west Munster.

The cold snap is looking like it will continue into the weekend, so ensure you have all those woolly jumpers at the ready.
