Weekend misery as cold temperatures and heavy rain predicted ahead but an uplift is on the way

With thunderous downpours and “below average” temperatures expected to culminate in a “nasty” prediction for the nation over the following four days, this weekend is expected to start out wet, reports The Mirror.

The gloomy weather is expected to start on Friday at noon, when rain moves northeastward and covers the majority of the nation. Met Éireann reports that this might lead to isolated thunderstorms with hail, especially in the Southeast.

As a band of rain moves in from the west on Friday, weather expert Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather on X believes that the downpour might become “nasty” and cause spot flooding in the areas most affected, reports The Mirror.

The notoriously erratic weather forecasts depict a “narrow band” of rain, according to O’Reilly, covering Ireland on Friday morning, especially in the East, and continuing until the early evening. The rains on Saturday seem to be more dispersed, with the majority falling in the southern portion of the nation before becoming significantly less intense in the evening.

Unfortunately, rain is expected to return to the nation on Sunday, affecting the whole country from dawn to night.

According to Met Éireann’s extended range forecast, this unfavourable weather pattern is expected to continue until next week. According to the national forecaster, there will be “longer spells of rain” and a “unsettled” week, reports The Mirror.
