Weekend washout expected, as Met Eireann issues rainfall warning for 14 counties

If you were thinking of heading outdoors this weekend, think again, as heavy rainfall is expected to blight vast swathes of the country over the next 48 hours.

Met Eireann has today issued a status yellow warning for the following counties: Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford.

Rain will spread eastwards from Saturday afternoon, turning heavier towards the evening.

It will remain fairly mild though, with temperatures ranging between 15-18C, and even higher on Sunday, when the thermometer is expected to reach 22C in places.
