The Government has confirmed that weekly Covid-19 testing will take place at meat factories and Direct Provision Centres.
Announcing the decision the Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that the testing will be similar to that carried out at nursing homes in recent months.
He also said that the testing will initially take place in counties Laois, Offaly and Kildare before it is rolled out nationwide.
The latest move comes as the Government also confirmed that it will announce plans that will outline how the country deals with the pandemic over the next 6 months.
