The world of cinema has today lost Wes Craven, the well known director and creator of such landmark franchises as Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream.
Craven directed his first film, Last House on the Left, back in 1972. He made it big in Hollywood in 1985, when he introduced the Freddy Krueger character to cinema goers across the world. The movie became an instant hit and went on to spawn several sequels.
His career went to further success in 1996, when the first of the Scream movies was released.
Craven passed away peacefully at his home, following a long battle with brain cancer.
