Westmeath crash leaves one woman dead and two other people injured

The grim trend of road deaths continues, after a woman in her 20s was killed in a crash in Westmeath earlier today.

The incident, which involved two cars and a truck, happened
at around 3.30 this afternoon at Hiskinstown, Delvin, Westmeath.

The female driver of one of cars involved in the accident was pronounced dead at the scene, and her female passenger -also aged in her 20s- was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar. Her injuries are described as serious.

The female driver of the second car was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital, also in a serious condition. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact them at Mullingar Garda Station on 044 9384000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
