The freezing cold weather of the last few days is finished for now anyway, as Met Eireann is predicting a wet, blustery, but relatively mild day ahead as temperatures rise to highs of 12C.
There will be outbursts of heavy rain throughout the morning, mostly in western areas, but these will peter out towards the afternoon, giving way to brighter and sunnier conditions later on.
The benign conditions won’t last though, as another band of rain will move in on Thursday, with persistent rain likely across the northwest.
