Wet and windy end of the working week as heavy, blustery rain is forecast for many areas today

The end of the working week is going to be a wet and blustery one, according to Met Eireann, as heavy, blustery rain is expected across many areas of the country today.

And the bad news is that the miserable weather is likely to last into the weekend, with Sunday forecast to be particularly bad.

Friday started off very wet and windy, but showers will ease towards late afternoon, with some bright spells possible, and temperatures of up to 10C.

Saturday will be a dull and cloudy day, with scattered showers and temperatures of about 9-11C.

Sunday is forecast to be a very windy day around coastal areas, with gale-force winds likely at times. It will remain wet and changeable elsewhere.

The outlook is for very unsettled weather until the middle of next week, with temperatures remaining at the average for this time of year.
