“What about 85-yr-old Irish who can’t get medical cards” – Mixed reaction to helpline setup to advise Ukrainians on their rights in Ireland including free medical cards and social welfare




There’s been a mixed reaction to a new service will be open 5 days a week in an office in the Irish refugee council in Dublin.

Many on social media are saying that elderly Irish people, who are means tested, cannot get medical cards if they’re just a couple of euro over the quota.

It’s understood that the majority of people working in the centre are Ukrainians who are eager to help out the thousands of people that are expected to flood into Ireland over the coming weeks.

They’ll be informed about their rights, including getting social welfare and accommodation, alongside getting free medical cards.
