A supervised emergency clinic in Dublin that would offer secure care to newly arrived applicants for international protection has been proposed by the medical head of a refugee agency, reports Breaking News.

Dr. Angela Skuce stated on RTÉ radio’s Today with Claire Byrne show that the circumstances surrounding new arrivals in tents on Mount Street were “unmanaged, uncontrolled, and inhumane.”

She said that people with heart and renal problems had been living in tents and needed to be transferred to a hospital, reports Breaking News.

Dr. Skuce, who works for the refugee assistance company Safety Net Primary Care, stated that Ireland should offer an emergency shelter that is supervised for incoming asylum seekers.

She said. “I think the health care response has been really good. But there’s just a limit to what you can do in the current unmanaged environment. So we think that what we need to provide as a country is a managed emergency shelter with sanitation, on-site security to keep people safe, and staff on site so that they can identify and respond to problems as they emerge,” reports Breaking News.
