Up and down the country, garda checkpoints are stopping people asking them where they’re going, why they’re going there and whether they’re outside their 5km travel radius.
Many people have already been issued with fines as a result of being caught breaching the covid rules and regulations.
However, over the past week, an app that allows users to see where garda checkpoints are located, input garda checkpoint locations themselves and check whether there’s any in their area, is being downloaded hand over fist by people in Ireland.
The app is called ‘WAZE’ and is similar to that of Google Maps.
Along with normal navigation, users can see a little policeman icon which alerts them to where current garda checkpoints are located. The app runs in real time, so essentially people can see where checkpoints are at any time of the day along their journey.
What do you think of the app? Is it a good or bad idea?
