WhatsApp is rolling out new ‘Channels’ feature worldwide

Meta announced that it would launch WhatsApp channels around the world.

The company described this feature as a private streaming service.

It allows users to follow updates from celebrities, organizations, and sports teams.

“Channels are separate from your chats and who you choose to follow is not visible to other followers. We also protect the personal information of both admins and followers,” Meta said in a blogpost, reports RTE.

After an initial launch in ten countries, Meta announced the release of some channel updates.

Users can find channels to follow automatically, filtered by their country.

You can also see the new, most active and popular channels based on the number of followers, reports RTE.

“This is just the beginning, and we’ll continue to add more features and expand Channels based on feedback we get from users. Over the coming months, we’ll also make it possible for anyone to create a channel,” Meta said, reports RTE.
