WhatsApp users are being warned of a new ‘Friend in need’ scam starting to make the rounds.
Some people have reported receiving a message from an unknown number, purporting to be a ‘friend using a temporary phone.’
Usually, these messages are sent from compromised accounts, and ask for personal information, money, or a six-digit pin number.
People are being urged to always ask for confirmation of who’s sending the messages via phone call or voice message.
