A young man received a suspended sentence for breaking into his 79-year-old landlady’s bed in the middle of the night and sexually abusing her, reports Breaking News.

At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, the 24-year-old male entered a guilty plea to one count of sexually assaulting the woman in her Dublin residence during the wee hours of March 17, 2023.

The man, whose identity is withheld to preserve the victim’s privacy, told the court that on the relevant evening, he had gone out socialising and had consumed alcohol for the first time. He has never been convicted before, reports Breaking News.

The prosecutor, Rebecca Smith BL, was informed by Detective Garda Eamon Moylan that the male had just moved to the nation from his home country of Asia and was staying with the woman.

The woman woke up in the middle of the night on the particular night to discover someone in her bed, stroking her thighs and forcing his body against her. After switching on the light, she saw it was the young man and yelled for him to go, reports Breaking News.

The woman called her daughter and the gardaĆ­ and informed the other lodgers about the man’s actions right away. After being taken into jail for six weeks, the individual was eventually released on bail by the High Court.

The man had entered another lodger’s bedroom and was attempting to communicate with her using Google Translate on his phone, according to evidence presented to the court, just before going to his landlady’s room, reports Breaking News.
