The White House has suspended the credentials of a CNN reporter after it is alleged that he placed his hands on a young woman following a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump.

In a statement published in the past few hours the White House confirmed that CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s credentials were revoked after ‘he put his hands on a young woman who was trying to do her job.’

The statement which was released by the White House Press Secretary Sarah Saunders, said that Mr Acosta’s behaviour was completely unacceptable.

It is alleged that that Mr Acosta touched the young woman a White House staffer after she tried to take away his microphone following an intense exchange with President Trump.

In the statement Ms Saunders condemned Mr Acosta’s actions by saying the following: “The White House would never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job”.

“The fact that CNN is proud of the way their employee behaved is not only disgusting, it’s an example of their outrageous disregard for everyone, including young women, who work in this Administration.”

“As a result of today’s incident, the White House is suspending the hard pass of the reporter involved until further notice.”

Mr Acosta who has since tweeted about the incident claimed the accusation was a complete lie.

The CNN reporter also confirmed that his access to the White House was denied by the US Secret Service on Wednesday evening.
