The White House was put on lockdown this morning, local time, after the detection of an unidentified aircraft incursion in restricted airspace around Washington DC.
It is understood that fighter jets were scrambled as both the White House and the Capitol building were evacuated.
The aircraft in question was eventually deemed ‘non-hostile’.
