Will Promises of Irish Citizenship, free housing and benefits for newcomers guarantee votes for Irish politicians?

Last week, we highlighted the Social Democrats “Irish Citizenship for Votes” disclosure.

This week we take the next logical step and question if Irish politicians have found a new, lucrative target market to recruit more voters by offering
Asylum seekers and refugees Houses and benefits for votes.

If you or I were to travel to a foreign country, let’s say Australia. Assuming we were allowed to seek asylum in the first instance, would you vote for the politician or political party that gives you and your family a free home, free medical care, free social welfare money, free education? Would you vote for the politician that gives you and your family a FastPass service that even prioritises you and your family over Australian citizens and Australian tax payers?

Of course you would. Maybe that’s why asylum seekers and refugees are found in every electoral constituency of Ireland.

Inadvertently, the social Democrats have pulled back the curtain on one reason why almost all the political parties are champions for uncontrolled, open borders for the entire world.

Maybe that’s why we rarely, if ever deport anyone who manages to fail the asylum process?

Maybe that’s why we see politicians presenting free houses to foreign nationals?

Maybe it’s time to stop the housing discrimination for hard working Irish people and create a truly independent Housing Commission, devoid of political favours?
