Will Smith finally makes public appearance and apologises to Chris Rock after #Slapgate at the Oscars

In his first personal statement on the Chris Rock incident, Will Smith has apologized for his infamous Oscar slap.

In a video posted to his Instagram account, the actor said he’s “doing a lot of thinking and personal work” since the Oscars and “trying not to think of myself as a piece of s***”.

He said: “Chris, I apologise to you. My behaviour was unacceptable. And I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Smith admitted he had been in touch with Rock personally, but received a message that he was “not ready to talk.”

He also went to and apologised to Chris Rock’s family, particularly his mother, who told Smith he saw her when she was being interviewed.
