Will they, or won’t they? The Rockettes voice their concern about performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration

The Rockettes in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Donald Trump’s presidential term is not getting to a good start, as far as his inauguration gig is concerned at least.

According to reports, the famous American dance troupe Radio City Rockettes, intends to boycott their participation in the event, as some of the dancers feel they are being forced into something they do not want to do.

Upon learning they had to dance for Trump, a number of dancers took to social media to say they were ’embarrassed’, and ‘disappointed’, due to the man’s record on behaviour towards females, among other dubious traits.

It has also been suggested that the dancers may face consequences if they do not perform as required. The union representing the Rockettes, the American Guild of Variety Artists, said that they are ‘obligated’ to perform, and that any suggestion of boycott is ‘invalid.’

It remains to be seen whether or not the all-female Rockettes will perform at the event, but the controversy is far from over.
