Police in the North have launched a murder investigation after a 29-year-old woman was shot dead in Derry last night.
It is understood that police investigating the shooting are treating the woman’s death as a terrorist incident and believe it was the result of dissident Republicans.
The woman’s death comes as violent scenes broke out in the city’s Creggan area on Thursday evening.
It is thought the violence errupted after police carried out a number of searches at houses in the Mulroy Park and Galliagh areas.
Police say a number of petrol bombs were thrown at police vehicles during the incident.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
