
An 82-yr-old woman has died from complications resulting from a subdural haematoma caused by blunt force trauma to the head after she was pushed down a flight of stairs, an inquest has heard.
Cork Coroner’s Court on Thursday heard evidence concerning the cause of death of Stella Nnamdi, who passed away in hospital on February 25th this year, reports Breaking News.
Her death occurred two days after an incident at her residence on Garrydhu Drive, Kilmoney Road, in Carrigaline, Co Cork.
Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster gave evidence on behalf of State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers, reports Breaking News.
Dr Okkers conducted the post-mortem examination on Ms Nnamdi on February 26th.
Dr Bolster stated that myelofibrosis was also a contributing factor in the death of the pensioner, who sustained a subdural haematoma after being pushed down the stairs at her home, reports Breaking News.
Sergeant Fergus Twomey applied for an adjournment to allow criminal proceedings to take place. Coroner Philip Comyn granted the adjournment on an indefinite basis, or sine die.
Ms Nnamdi, a Nigerian national, lived with her daughter in Carrigaline, Co Cork, having moved to Ireland approximately 15 years ago, reports Breaking News.
She was taken to Cork University Hospital on the morning of February 25th, where she underwent a medical assessment for a head injury. Her condition worsened, and she was pronounced dead later that day.
Following the incident, the property was examined by a technical crime scene investigation team, reports Breaking News.
Gardaà also conducted house-to-house enquiries.
A man was later charged in connection with her death, reports Breaking News.
