Gardaí in Co Monaghan have confirmed that a woman aged in her 50s was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a road traffic collision this evening.
It is understood the woman was taken to Tallaght Hospital following the collision which occurred on the R179 at Corduffkelly near Carrickmacross, at approximately 5pm.
Gardaí say a teenage girl who was a passenger in the car was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Meanwhile the driver of the other vehicle a man aged in 40s was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí say an investigation is currently ongoing.
