Gardaí in Co Cork have confirmed that an elderly woman has died following a fire at her home.
It is understood the 84-year-old woman was killed after the fire broke out at her home on North Main Street, in Youghal, on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí say the fire is not being treated as suspicious and believe it may have been the result of an electrical fault.
They added that the woman’s body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
