A woman and three children have been tragically killed after the car they were travelling was struck by a train at a level crossing in France.
It is believed that the four were killed and four other train passengers were injured after the vehicle was struck by a train in Avenay-Val-d’Or in the Marne region.
Police investigating the incident say the vehicle was struck by a train which was travelling from Epernay to Reims on Monday.
They added that an investigation into the cause of the crash is currently ongoing.
Meanwhile those who were travelling on the train have been offered consular assistance.
