A woman has been awarded €32,000 in damages after being injured by shards of a broken champagne bottle at Dublin airport in 2012.
Nuala McCourt was travelling to Madrid when she stopped for some pre-flight shopping in the Loop outlet. She was injured when another customer knocked over a champagne bottle, sending shards of glass into her left eyebrow.
Despite receiving medical attention on the scene, Ms McCourt’s holiday was ruined as she had to attend hospital in Madrid to have the wound seen to.
In making her plea to Dublin’s Circuit Court, Ms McCourt pointed out that she has been left with a 1cm scar, and that she is anxious when family members travel.
