Police in the US have confirmed that a woman has sadly died following a shark attack off the coast of Maine.
It is understood that the 63 year old woman was killed after she was attacked by a great white shark whilst swimming near Bailey Island on Monday.
Authorities investigating the incident say the woman’s body was taken to the shoreline by a group of kayakers who were in the area.
The incident is only the second such attack to occur in the region and it has been the first such incident that has proved to be fatal.
