Annie Heyneman has been named locally as the victim of last night’s deadly assault in Cavan, reports The Mirror.

According to sources who spoke to the Irish Mirror, Mrs. Heyneman, who was in her 50s, passed away on Saturday night following an attack at her house in Kilnavert, which is outside of Ballyconnell.

The terrible attack caused significant injuries to her husband, Henk, who was originally from the Netherlands but had lived in the region for several decades, reports The Mirror.

At Cavan General Hospital, Mr. Heyneman, who is in his 60s, is receiving medical attention for his wounds.

Mrs. Heyneman, a Ballyconnell native who was previously known as Annie McLoughlin, passed away at the scene. Cavan General Hospital received her remains, reports The Mirror.

John Paul Feeley, a local Fianna Fail councillor, told the Irish Mirror that the murder had shocked the town.

He said: ā€œMy thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very difficult time. It is a shock not just for those who knew them well, but for the wider community. This is a very rural, close-knit community. For something like this to happen is a huge shock to everyone,” reports The Mirror.

Additionally, a neighbour informed the Irish Mirror that the Heyneman family was well-known and respected in Ballyconnell’s Kilnavert neighbourhood. “It is a terrible tragedy,” he remarked. No one can accept what has occurred. The family is well-known in the community.

According to sources, gardai were questioning a man who was well-known to the Heynemans. It is not thought that officers are searching for anyone else connected to the murder, reports The Mirror.
