Gardai in Galway have begun an investigation after a woman was seriously injured following an incident in the city.
The investigation comes after the woman aged in her 20s suffered life changing injuries after being struck by a firework whilst sitting a bus stop.
It is understood that the incident occurred at approximately 12am on Thursday night in Eyre Square.
Gardai say the woman has since been taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.
