Woman with 73 previous convictions gets eight year jail term for repeatedly punching and stabbing another woman over a row involving €50

According to BreakingNews.ie, 39-yr-old Martina Rooney, from Dublin 7 pleaded guilty this week at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to counts of assault causing serious harm and robbery on June 13th, 2020 in Dublin’s Temple Bar.

Rooney repeatedly punched and stabbed another woman in a row over €50 following a drug deal. Rooney believed the victim held money belonging to her and assaulted the victim causing “ “extensive facial bruising”, lacerations to the back, buttock and thigh”, according to Breakingnews.ie.

Using CCTV and DNA testing, gardai were able to link Rooney to the assault.

BreakingNews.ie reports that the judge sentenced Rooney to nine years imprisonment, with the final 12 months suspended on strict conditions and that a co-accused, Karl Fisherwoman from Dublin 8 was jailed for two years for his part in the assault.
