World’s smallest baby weighing just more than an apple after being born at 23 weeks – leaves hospital

The world’s smallest baby ever to be born has left hospital five months after being born.

In what has been described as a rarity baby Saybie, who just weighed more than a large apple has left a San Diego Hospital after being given little chance to survive.

Saybie, who weighed just 8.6 ounces when she was born, defied the odds and has thankfully returned home with her family.

The little girl who is now in good health was born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns, when her mother gave birth via an emergency caesarean section at just 23 weeks.

Saybie who has been described as micro preemie, was discharged weighing 5.6 pounds after spending five months in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.
