This week’s weather is certainly taking a turn for the worse, prompting Met Eireann to issue warnings and advice to motorists.
Wednesday began with frost and rainfall across many areas, creating hazardous driving conditions for early commuters. Most of the showers have now cleared, giving way to a crisp and cold day, with daytime temperatures barely rising to 5C.
The outlook is for another freezing night, with temperatures dropping to -3 or -4C in some areas.
Thursday’s weather is expected to be largely similar, with sleet and rain falling across southern areas, while the northern half of the country may remain mostly dry but cold.
