The Minister for Education Joe McHugh has confirmed that the written version of the Leaving Certificate will take place in November at the earliest.
Speaking in the Dail on Wednesday, McHugh confirmed that the exam will be held this year.
The Education Minister said that it is hoped that the exam which was postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic will take place after the Halloween break.
He added that the exam cannot take place in August due to the publication of calculated grades.
