Yellow warning for high temperature remains in effect for most of the UK as temperatures rise to high 30s

A Yellow Warning for high temperatures is now in effect across most of the UK, as temperatures rise to well above average for this time of year.

The Met Office says that the all-record temperature of 38.5C, registered in 2003, might be beaten today as predictions say that a high of 39C is possible.

There are fears that the heat may spark lightning storms, which may cause severe damage to infrastructure across the country.
