St Dominic’s Street Bridge in Drogheda, Co Louth had been closed for quite some time for much needed renovations.
The pedestrian bridge is a well-linked part of the centre of the town and has had a substantial renovation job completed in recent weeks.
It opened at the weekend with much applause from the local community.
However, just hours after the above photo was taken, thankless thugs uprooted the beautiful trees at the benches and threw them, presumably, into the river Boyne.
Locals say that they won’t allow the few spoil the new bridge for the many. Plans are already in place to have the trees replaced.
