A member of the public raised the alarm on Monday evening after a dog attacked a young girl on Inch Beach, reports Independent.
The Valentia Coast Guard coordinated the response to the incident after it was reported between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.and on Monday (September 4th).
Up to four dogs were at the scene of the accident, although only one of them is believed to have bitten the 17-year-old on the upper arm, reports RTE.
Her injuries are not believed to have been serious, but they required medical attention and the young girl was left shaken after the incident.
Valentia sent gardaà to the scene and the rescue control center returned to Valentia for further assistance, at which point Dingle Coastguard was called.
The incident occurred some distance from the main road and it is common for Coast Guard members to assist rescue personnel in such situations.
Dingle Coastguard provided first aid and the patient was then handed over to the HSE.
Kerryman believes the woman attacked was from abroad and had recently arrived in Kerry.
