Young man hospitalised after bad injury falling from bonfire during Twelfth of July event in Down




A man has been admitted to hospital after falling from a fire in Co Down, reports The Mirror.

The incident happened on Tuesday, July 11, around 10pm in Newtownards.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) responded to calls for a fall injury on Portferry Road in the city.

“NIAS dispatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and emergency crew to the incident,” a spokesman for the ambulance service said, reports The Mirror.

A crowd gathered at the site while the pyre was burning, and the injured man was taken to safety to the nearest fire station until an ambulance arrived.

A PSNI statement on the incident said: “Police responded to a report of an incident at a bonfire in the Portaferry Road area of Newtownards this evening, July 11th. One person has been taken to hospital,” reports The Mirror.
