A young man is in hospital following an assault on cathedral grounds in Longford town.
The incident happened outside St. Mel’s Cathedral in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The victim, a male in his 20s, was rushed to Mullingar’s Midland Regional Hospital for treatment.
No arrests have yet been made.
