Following an early-morning collision near Drimina, Tubbercurry in County Sligo, a man in his 20s lost his life, reports RTE.
The individual was driving a car when the single-vehicle collision occurred on the R294 at around 3.45 in the morning.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled when the local coroner has been informed.
While Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct their inspections, the road is still blocked and local detours are in place, reports RTE.
Any witnesses to this event are being urged to come forward by the GardaÃ.
Road users who may have dash cam or other camera video who were in the vicinity between 2 and 4 am are requested to provide it to the gardaà who are conducting the investigation, reports RTE.
