Following an attack on a bus in Mayfield, on the city’s northside, this afternoon that resulted in a man being hospitalised with serious injuries, Cork’s Gardai have opened an inquiry, reports The Mirror.
At around 4 p.m. today, the man was attacked while on a bus on Colmcille Avenue, which runs between Middle Glanmire Road and Old Youghal Road. It is thought that the assault came after a conversation with two passengers on the bus.
The car stopped not too far from the neighbourhood Garda station. After receiving emergency care at the site from paramedics due to his severe head injuries, the man was taken to a hospital, reports The Mirror.
The man, who is said to be in his 40s, was transported by ambulance to CUH, where it is believed he had emergency surgery following a brain bleed.
The scene is undergoing a technical and forensic analysis. Additionally, nearby CCTV video will be gathered by the Gardai, reports The Mirror.
According to a Garda spokeswoman, the incident is now being looked into.
According to the spokesman, “Gardaà are looking into an alleged assault that happened in Mayfield, Cork on Wednesday, October 2, at about 4 p.m.
“A male patient had treatment at Cork University Hospital. There are still enquiries open,” reports The Mirror.
